A betting account in George Cottrell’s name received $9mn in cryptocurrency from unidentified sources while he supplied gifts and benefits to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

In October 2024, the Polymarket wallet named “GCottrell93” was topped up with $8.8mn from two crypto wallets. The funds were used to bet on Donald Trump winning the U.S. election, generating a profit of $4.46mn. Soon after the result, most of the money was moved to two separate wallets.

Over 2024 Cottrell financed Farage’s staff, security and travel, including aवै paid trip to the U.S. and a Palm Beach visit that cost £15,300. He also rented a five‑storey house near Buckingham Palace for £5,480 per week.

Cottrell, a convicted fraudster, was charged in 2016 with 21 offences linked to money‑laundering schemes. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud, served time in Arizona, and later entered a plea agreement that dismissed 20 of the 21 charges.
