Crypto.com has achieved a valuation of $20bn following a $400mn investment from market-maker Citadel Securities. This significant investment signals increasing embrace of digital assets by traditional finance firms and will enable Crypto.com to expand its offerings into tokenized securities and derivatives.

Singapore-based Crypto.com, currently ranked 11th globally by trading volume, sees this as a pivotal moment. "The size of the opportunity in front of us is staggering, as crypto increasingly becomes the rails for finance," stated co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek. The company, which also provides crypto, stocks, and prediction markets to retail traders, has been actively seeking regulatory approvals and strengthening ties within the US financial landscape.

This move by Citadel Securities, which previously invested in Kraken, highlights a broader trend. Traditional financial institutions like Intercontinental Exchange and Nasdaq have also made substantial investments in crypto-focused companies, underscoring the growing integration of blockchain technology and digital assets into mainstream finance.
