Rolls-Royce to Build 100 Bespoke EVs for Ultra-Wealthy

Rolls-Royce is testing the upper limits of hyper-personalization by creating 100 entirely bespoke, two-seater electric vehicles for its wealthiest clients. Dubbed Project Nightingale, these new cars represent a departure from simply customizing existing platforms, instead involving a four-year design process initiated two years ago with pre-selected buyers.

This invitation-only series contrasts with the broader industry trend where many automakers have pulled back on EV commitments due to waning subsidy support and persistent demand for petrol engines. Rolls-Royce, owned by BMW, maintains its commitment to electrification while acknowledging it will continue producing gasoline models past 2030.

Pricing for the torpedo-shaped electric models, inspired by 1920s experimental designs, is expected to fall somewhere between the £4.5 million cost of a Phantom Goldfinger and recent £25 million one-offs like the Droptail. The exclusivity means the specific design configurations will never be repeated for any other buyer.

CEO Chris Brownridge emphasized the goal of creating something "hedonistic, extraordinary, extravagant and of course extremely rare." Deliveries for these unique, silent electric machines are scheduled to commence in 2028, cementing Rolls-Royce's dominance at the very top tier of the luxury market.
