Nigel Farage's Bitcoin Firm Has One Director: Who Is Melisa Lawton?

Stack BTC, the bitcoin treasury company backed by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and led by former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, has just one non-executive director on its board. Her name is Melisa Lawton, who holds a 4.92 per cent stake in the company, making her the third-largest shareholder behind Farage with 5.91 per cent and co-founder Paul Withers with 20.72 per cent.

Lawton's background has raised eyebrows in financial circles. Companies House records show she was born in June 1969 and lists Stack BTC as her only current or former appointment. However, records also show a person of the same name and age served as director of two Chelsea property management companies between 2003 and 2009. The New Yorker reported in 2001 that oil trader Friedhelm Eronat, who once owned a multi-million dollar home in Carlyle Square, was married to someone of Lawton's name.

Stack BTC has not confirmed whether its board member is the same Melisa Lawton connected to Eronat, the reclusive oil industry figure who gained UK citizenship in 2003 after renouncing his US passport. The company did not respond to requests for biographical information about Lawton, whose professional background remains unclear despite her significant stake in the venture.
