Moon Tourism Price Shock: $100K Per Day

PwC France has released a lunar market assessment projecting that moon tourism will cost around $100,000 per person per day for early visitors. The Four Big firm's report, developed with its Japanese Space Practice team, suggests commercial passenger flights to the Moon could begin in 2036 once technical and regulatory hurdles are resolved.

The assessment outlines several emerging moonconomies including mobility, communications, and real estate sectors that could develop alongside lunar tourism. PwC expects moon visits to accelerate in the second half of the 2030s, with hundreds of visitors potentially traveling by mid-century. The report positions this as part of broader "Moon transformation" despite unclear motivations for PwC's commitment to lunar development.

While the projections stop short of SoftBank-style exuberance, the pricing assumptions highlight the astronomical costs of space tourism. At $100,000 daily, a week-long lunar vacation would cost more than many people's lifetime earnings. The report suggests these prices would be adjusted for the significantly higher costs of lunar operations compared to Earth-based activities.
