Moneysupermarket Launches Investment Platform

Price-comparison website Moneysupermarket is launching an investment platform this weekend, allowing customers to trade mutual funds and exchange traded funds. This move aims to position Moneysupermarket as a "full-service financial companion" amid concerns that AI could disrupt traditional comparison models.

The platform will offer 40 mutual and exchange traded funds, including Vanguard's Life Strategy vehicles and S&P 500 trackers, available within stocks-and-shares ISAs or general investment accounts. While trading is free, there is a 0.34 per cent platform fee. This follows the February launch of Moneysupermarket's savings platform.

Peter Duffy, chief executive of Mony Group, highlighted the opportunity to assist the 70 per cent of UK adults who do not invest, leveraging customer trust and brand strength. Despite facing competition from established platforms like Hargreaves Lansdown and AJ Bell, and evolving digital startups, Duffy stated the expansion is a logical step to better serve customers, not a direct reaction to AI threats.
