Magnum sales surge on European heatwave

Magnum Ice Cream Company reported Q2 sales of €2.9bn, up 4.9% organically, driven by heatwaves across Europe. The brand, spun out of Unilever last year, expanded distribution and reduced prices by 0.8%, boosting volumes.

CEO Peter ter Kulve praised the strong start, noting the rise helped offset investor concerns over GLP‑1 weight‑loss drugs. Magnum also sees takeover interest from private‑equity firms that had eyed the business before the demerger.

In Europe, sales volumes rose 5%, while the Americas and Asia saw flat volumes amid price hikes. Ben & Jerry’s sales climbed 9.2% after launching ice‑cream sandwiches. Shares rose 44% since April, remaining flat on Thursday.

To counter weight‑loss drug fears, Magnum offers bite‑sized bonbons and low‑calorie Yasso frozen yoghurt.
