The difficult times at India’s IndiGo continue. The airline announced it would discontinue its wide-body operations from October 25 and end its lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways by October 31. Under the transition, the Mumbai-Amsterdam service will switch to the Airbus A321XLR fleet, while London Heathrow flights will be temporarily suspended until the airline takes delivery of its own Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Although the company had previously placed orders for 30 wide-body aircraft, the business environment has worsened. The airline's model faced cracks due to new government-mandated pilot rostering regulations and soaring aviation fuel costs following military action in the Middle East.

Following the resignation of CEO Pieter Elbers, aviation veteran Willie Walsh takes charge this week. Despite a near 12 per cent fall in the stock over the past year, IndiGo’s long-term ambitions remain intact, with management aiming to raise international operations to 40 per cent by 2030.
