IT and software companies now account for roughly one-fifth of Europe's fastest growing businesses, according to the FT1000 ranking. The dominance reflects how digital transformation spending spans both cutting-edge technologies like AI and quantum computing and essential infrastructure such as cloud services, cybersecurity, and automation software. This balanced investment approach drives growth across the technology sector.

Danish startup Frameo exemplifies this trend, ranking 235th with its software for digital picture frames. The Aarhus-based company licenses its technology to Chinese manufacturers whose frames retail in stores, allowing customers to upload encrypted photos and videos via a smartphone app. Founder Torben Ulrich created the platform to simplify photo sharing for all users, including older adults who may avoid social media. Frameo faces competition from companies like Skylight, Aura, and Nixplay.

At number 194, UK-based Reincubate focuses on improving video quality for remote work and streaming. CEO Aidan Fitzpatrick notes that video quality significantly impacts perceived trustworthiness and buying decisions. The company's tools overlay graphics, create ring-light effects, and enable mobile phones to broadcast higher-resolution video than standard webcams. Corporate clients include Meta, HP, and Razer. Meanwhile, Aufinity Group ranks 139th with payment software used by over 2,000 European car dealerships, saving an average of 20 minutes per transaction by modernizing decades-old dealership systems.
