Corpay-Voltempo Deal Targets UK Electric Truck Adoption Surge

Atlanta-based Corpay, a $20bn payments group, is partnering with Voltempo to accelerate the UK's electric truck transition. Rising diesel prices, fueled by the Middle East conflict, have made electric vehicles economically viable. The collaboration aims to integrate charging infrastructure, fleet payments, and electricity supply, creating a more profitable model for operators.

Corpay will procure electricity for customers, promising 20% cost-of-ownership savings versus diesel trucks. This addresses the UK's critical need: only 1.4% of trucks were electric in 2025, despite a 2035 deadline for zero-emission lorries under the net-zero roadmap. The partnership also tackles high upfront costs (2.5x diesel equivalents) and charging infrastructure gaps, leveraging Corpay's UK presence through Allstar and Voltempo's depot network.

Government support includes £1bn funding until 2030.
