Bank of America announced a $250bn pledge to US infrastructure, aimed at bolstering Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda after the president criticized the bank’s CEO. The bank will “mobilise and deploy” the capital over an 18‑month period, supporting sectors vital to national interests and driving future growth.

The commitment covers direct lending, deal underwriting, investment and advisory in AI and energy. It is back‑dated from January 1 this year to July 4 next year. “As America marks its 250th year, this initiative reflects our confidence,” said co‑president Jim De Mare.

The pledge follows a tense bank‑White House relationship, with Trump attacking several banks for “debanking” him and threatening to cap credit‑card fees. BofA’s CEO Brian Moynihan was snubbed at a Davos reception, a move the bank attributes to the president’s criticism.

BofA’s move mirrors JPMorgan’s and Morgan Stanley’s $1.5 trillion plans. The bank already led a $14bn bond for an Oracle‑backed data‑centre in Michigan and remains committed to its $1.5 trillion sustainable‑finance goal amid political backlash.
