Baillie Gifford HQ move delayed again

Baillie Gifford’s planned move to a new Foster‑designed headquarters in Edinburgh has slipped again, CEO Tim Campbell said on Thursday. The investment firm had aimed to relocate its staff from the current office in the city’s West End to the new 12‑storey building by the end of 2023, but construction setbacks and supply‑chain bottlenecks have pushed the opening back to the spring of 2024. Campbell noted that the delay is “longer than we might have liked” and that the firm is working closely with contractors to keep the project on track.

The move is part of a broader strategy to consolidate operations and signal Baillie Gifford’s commitment to the Scottish capital. Analysts say the new space will accommodate 400 employees and feature flexible work zones, reflecting a shift toward hybrid models. While the postponement may dent short‑term productivity, the firm’s long‑term growth plans remain intact.

Stakeholders now await a revised completion date and the first day of occupancy.
