US Stocks Rise as Oil Falls on Iran Tensions Easing

US stock futures rallied on Monday as oil prices tumbled following reports that the US paused planned strikes against Iran, easing immediate geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The de-escalation triggered a broad risk-on sentiment across equity markets, with major index futures posting solid gains in early trading.

Adding to the positive tone, tankers resumed sailing toward a Kazakh export terminal that had been recently disrupted, further alleviating global supply pressures on crude markets. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal, a key outlet for Kazakh oil, had faced operational halts that tightened availability. Its return to normal operations contributed to the sharp drop in benchmark crude prices.

Traders interpreted the dual developments — diplomatic restraint from Washington and restored Kazakh flows — as a significant reduction in near-term supply risk. Brent and WTI futures both slid more than 3%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed over 1%. Market participants remain watchful for any renewed escalation but are pricing in a calmer outlook for energy costs and inflation.
