Guinea's Finance Minister Mariama Ciré Sylla announced a $143 million memorandum of understanding with the United States to bolster the West African nation's health systems over five years. The agreement, posted on Facebook, represents a significant commitment to Guinea's health security as part of broader US international health initiatives.

The five-year plan, spanning 2026-2030, targets strengthening Guinea's health security, accelerating malaria control, and eliminating polio. The financing structure divides costs with $91 million from US funding and $51 million from Guinea's co-financing, demonstrating the nation's investment in its own healthcare future.

This deal continues the US State Department's pattern of health partnerships across Africa and Central America, positioning Guinea within America First Global Health Strategy. The agreement follows recent regional health challenges and precedes expected further commitments to West African healthcare infrastructure development.
