Total Energies SE said it may be reimbursed about $1.3 billion for loans to the Arctic LNG 2 project as it completed its exit from the US-sanctioned liquefied natural gas venture in Russia.

As part of the transfer of its 10% stake in Arctic LNG 2 to a subsidiary of Novatek PJSC — the Russian operator of the facility — Total Energies retains its rights to be compensated for its share of loans provided by shareholders of the project, the company said in a statement Thursday.

The reimbursement might be implemented in the future, subject to applicable sanctions, it said.
