On August 12, three Taiwanese business travelers and their families arrived at Entebbe International Airport near Kampala but had their passports seized by immigration officials, who demanded Chinese passports instead. According to a statement from Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released on Thursday, these incidents highlight growing tensions affecting Taipei's ability to operate in East Africa.

The situation comes amid ongoing diplomatic friction between Beijing and Taipei, impacting cross-strait economic and political dynamics. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and verify documentation requirements before embarking on journeys to Uganda.
