Taiwan's Bureau of Labor Funds, managing NT$7.79 trillion ($247 billion), is exploring new overseas investment mandates, according to people familiar with the matter. The pension fund plans to invite asset managers to pitch their services in coming months, less than a year after its last round of international allocations. The deliberations remain private, with plans potentially shifting as the process unfolds.

Currently weighing two mandates, the fund is considering investments in listed infrastructure equities and indexed fixed-income strategies. Last June, it selected four firms to each manage $400 million abroad, including a unit of BlackRock Inc. Over the years, the pension has allocated more than $5 billion across multiple mandates for listed infrastructure equities, according to calculations based on its disclosures.

The fund's investment strategy appears to be paying off. In 2025, Bureau of Labor Funds recorded its best annual performance ever, with investment gains of $35 billion. This success was bolstered by gains in Taiwan's stock market, demonstrating the effectiveness of its current investment approach.
