French water‑services group Suez SA announced it secured a new contract in Oman contract valued at €2 billion ($2.3 billion). The award, given with undisclosed partners, represents the company's biggest Middle‑East win to date. The deal covers the design, construction and operation of municipal water infrastructure across the Sultanate.

Oman has been expanding its water‑supply network to meet rising domestic demand and support industrial growth. By bringing in foreign expertise, the government hopes to accelerate upgrades that have lagged under existing capacity. Suez’s involvement signals confidence in the country’s willingness to invest heavily in essential utilities.

For Suez, the contract deepens its footprint in a region where few Western water operators have a sustained presence. The firm can leverage the project to showcase its integrated services—from desalination to wastewater treatment—potentially opening doors to adjacent contracts in the Gulf. Revenue from the Oman deal should lift its 2024 earnings outlook.

Investors will watch Suez’s share price for any reaction to the sizeable order, as the added order book improves cash flow certainty. The deal also puts pressure on regional rivals to secure comparable projects, potentially reshaping the competitive dynamics of water‑service markets in the Middle East.
