Stellantis pours €100M into Poissy plant to stave off closure

Stellantis announced a €100 million ($118 million) infusion to revamp its Poissy assembly plant outside Paris, aiming to keep the facility operational through at least 2028. The French site currently builds the Opel Mokka and DS compact SUV, and the investment will fund modernisation that preserves jobs as the group trims European output of Peugeot and Citroën models, and signal confidence in the French manufacturing base.

Keeping Poissy alive fits a broader strategy to shift the plant’s focus after 2028 toward component manufacturing, recycling and limited‑run 3D‑printed parts. By diversifying the site’s output, Stellantis hopes to cushion the impact of declining sedan volumes while leveraging existing tooling and the skilled workforce that has served the French auto sector for decades, and align with EU environmental targets.

Analysts view the €100 million spend as a defensive move that protects Poissy’s contribution to Stellantis’ €200 billion revenue stream, especially as the company consolidates production across Europe. The upgrade should sustain employment levels in the Île‑de‑France region and give the group flexibility to introduce niche models without building a new factory, and may improve the company's ESG rating.
