Vertiv, Lumentum, Coherent, and EchoStar will join the S&P 500 in March, replacing Match Group, Molina Healthcare, Lamb Weston, and Paycom Software. The additions reflect strong performance, with Lumentum rising over 800% in a year. These companies, focused on data center infrastructure, photonics, and satellite services, highlight the index’s shift toward tech-driven sectors. $24 trillion in assets linked to the S&P 500 underscores the market’s reliance on its composition, as index funds must buy newly added shares. $22.7 billion is the minimum market cap required for inclusion, ensuring liquidity and stability.

The changes follow prior rebalances, including CRH, Carvana, and Comfort Systems joining in December.
