'We need to reduce social conflict by communicating sufficiently with residents and sharing tangible benefits, while expanding the necessary power grid in a timely manner,' Kim said. The government plans to consolidate transmission lines, use existing infrastructure more, and expand underground cables in densely populated areas. Communities hosting transmission infrastructure will receive greater financial benefits, including income from renewable-energy projects, with increased compensation and consultation.
