Partners Group Blames Short-Seller for Stock Crash

Partners Group co-founder Alfred Gantner blamed short-seller Grizzly Research for the Swiss asset manager's 16% stock plunge this week, calling it a "massive overreaction" to unfounded attacks. Gantner claimed the share slump - which has halved the company's value since early 2025 - benefits short positions while harming retail investors.

The company confirmed capping withdrawals at one evergreen private equity fund after increased redemption requests from private wealth clients. Partners Group warned it may gate other evergreen funds as redemptions persist, despite managing $185 billion across private equity, credit, real estate and infrastructure.

Gantner acknowledged Partners needs better communication amid the industry crisis but noted strong client inflows in Q1 followed a record year. The Swiss alternative asset manager faces ongoing challenges balancing redemption requests with maintaining investor confidence across its diversified portfolio.
