London Stock Exchange Group Plc is in talks over a potential acquisition of global credit platform Octus from private equity firm Permira, according to people familiar with the matter. The discussions could value Octus at around $3.5 billion, the people said, asking not to be identified because they were discussing confidential information.

Deliberations are ongoing, and there is no certainty they will lead to a deal. Other suitors could also emerge, the people said. Representatives for Permira and LSEG declined to comment.

Formerly known as Reorg, Octus is a New York-based credit intelligence and financial data provider. Founded in 2013, the company specializes in coverage of leveraged finance, distressed debt, restructuring and private credit. Permira agreed to invest in the business in 2022.

The company competes in financial data with Bloomberg LP, the parent of Bloomberg News, which is the source of this report.
