A panel of Indian lawmakers has proposed new rules that would allow overseas firms registered abroad to transfer their registration to an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in India.

Thebliche move aims to bring more global businesses into Indian jurisdiction by simplifying the regulatory process and offering a unified framework for foreign entities that wish to operate within the country. Under the proposal, companies would be able to relocate their legal domicile to an IFSC without losing their existing licenses, thereby reducing administrative hurdles and fostering a more business‑friendly environment.

If implemented, the change would support India’s broader strategy to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen its position as a global financial hub. The proposal also aligns with recent reforms designed to streamline compliance, improve transparency, and enhance investor confidence.

The initiative is part of a series of policy adjustments that seek to modernise India’s financial infrastructure and encourage international participation in its growing economy.
