Eni and ADNOC XRG Partner on Argentina LNG Venture

Italian energy major Eni SpA has teamed up with the investment arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. to acquire stakes in Argentina's liquefied natural gas sector. The partnership signals growing international interest in South American energy infrastructure, as both companies position themselves to capitalize on global LNG demand shifts.

The deal involves a LNG production and export project, though specific financial terms remain undisclosed. Argentina's vast unconventional gas reserves have attracted significant foreign investment in recent years, with several major energy companies securing positions in Vaca Muerta shale formation and related export facilities.

For Eni, the Argentine expansion complements existing Latin American operations across Brazil, Chile and Mexico. The Italian company has steadily increased its footprint in the Americas while maintaining focus on natural gas projects that align with European energy security priorities.

ADNOC's investment unit XRG brings Middle Eastern capital and expertise to the partnership, reflecting broader UAE strategy to diversify energy investments globally. This collaboration strengthens Argentina's bid to become a meaningful LNG exporter to international markets.
