Billionaire Ken Griffin’s Citadel Securities LLC is moving into a larger office in Gurugram early next year, as it expands in one of the world’s fastest-growing financial markets. The Miami-based market-making firm’s Indian unit is shifting from its current location at Two Horizon Center to a Godrej Industries group tower nearby, according to a filing provided by real estate data analytics firm Propstack.
The new space spans over 12,800 square feet (1,189 square meters) and will accommodate a growing team over the next few years, the person said, asking not to be named discussing private information. Citadel Securities will pay a rent of 196 rupees ($2.06) per square foot per month for its new office, above the typical range of 130 to 150 rupees per square foot in the locality, noted Raja Seetharaman, co-founder at Propstack.
India has attracted a slew of high-frequency traders and liquidity providers in recent years, with firms offering record pay to draw engineers and traders. Gurugram, home to more than a dozen such firms, remains one of India’s biggest hubs for algorithmic trading, even as tighter regulations curb volumes—especially in the options market, the world’s largest by contracts traded.
A Citadel Securities spokesperson declined to comment.
