Baker Hughes $10B Bond Sale Funds Chart Industries Deal

Baker Hughes Co. is seeking to raise about $10 billion through a cross-border bond sale to finance its acquisition of Chart Industries Inc., according to people familiar with the matter. The oilfield-services giant has tapped Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley to arrange investor calls this week, with plans for euro- and dollar-denominated bonds to follow.

This would mark one of the first major high-grade bond offerings since credit markets froze following the US-Israeli attack on Iran earlier this week. As markets showed signs of stabilizing Wednesday, several borrowers resumed debt offerings, including Eaton Corp Plc's $8 billion acquisition-linked deal. The timing of Baker Hughes' bond sale could shift, sources said.

The planned debt issuance would replace a $14.9 billion 364-day loan facility Baker Hughes secured last year to help fund its $9.6 billion acquisition of the industrial equipment maker. The deal expands Baker Hughes' reach into liquefied natural gas, data centers, and other technologies.
