Adani Gas Prices Triple as Middle East War Disrupts Supply

Adani Total Gas Ltd. has tripled prices for industrial gas users exceeding 40% of their daily allocation, raising rates to nearly 120 rupees per standard cubic meter from 40 rupees. The price hike, effective Wednesday at 6am in India, follows supply disruptions caused by the war in the Middle East. The company supplies natural gas to homes, industries, and vehicles across 53 geographical areas.

Bulk consumers, which account for 30% of Adani Total's demand, are particularly affected as the company relies entirely on imports to meet this segment. The price surge comes after Qatar halted operations at its Ras Laffan plant, the world's largest LNG export facility, following an Iranian drone strike. India depends on imports for half its gas needs, with Qatar supplying half of those imports.

Other major suppliers including Petronet LNG Ltd. and Gujarat Gas Ltd. have invoked force majeure to restrict deliveries, citing shipment disruptions. The joint venture between Adani Group and TotalEnergies SE serves 14% of India's population through partnerships with Indian Oil Corp. The price revision reflects the severe impact of Middle East tensions on global energy markets and India's vulnerability to supply chain disruptions.
