CD Projekt Red confirmed The Witcher 4 will have a physical edition, but joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated whether it includes a PS5 disc depends on Sony’s manufacturing plans. Speaking to The Game Business, Nowakowski said the studio has no control over first-party disc production and that if Sony stops manufacturing PlayStation discs by 2028—as planned—the game may ship without a disc. He emphasized the box will definitely exist and include 'feelies' and collectible extras, similar to The Witcher 3’s collector’s editions.

The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release, aligning with Sony’s reported end of disc production for new PlayStation games. If discs are discontinued, buyers would likely receive a download code instead, mirroring Rockstar’s approach with GTA 6’s physical release.
