Intel's upcoming "Nova Lake-S" desktop processors took a step closer to reality after a leaked partner slide from China confirmed key platform details. The slide verifies Intel's planned LGA-1954 socket, which the company's testing tools had already validated for its pin count. More notably, a disclaimer in the bottom left corner states that Intel intends to keep the LGA-1954 socket across multiple generations, allowing enthusiasts to make a one-time investment and maintain the platform for years.

This long-term socket support marks a strategic shift for Intel, aligning more closely with AMD's approach seen with the AM4 socket, which lasted nearly a decade, and AM5, planned through 2029. By committing to LGA-1954, Intel aims to offer enthusiasts and cooler makers a stable, multi-generational platform.

The leaked slide also confirms the rollout timeline for "Nova Lake-S": mass production begins in Q4 2026, with the first SKUs arriving in Q1 2027. The initial launch will include a 28-core, single-compute die SKU, while the flagship 52-core variant remains unconfirmed. Intel has indicated the 52-core model will arrive on desktops within 2027. Beyond that, "Razor Lake" and "Hammer Lake" are expected to follow.
