Joe Willock's late goal sent Newcastle into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 victory at Millwall. The Magpies, champions two seasons ago, were pushed all the way by Sky Bet Championship outfit Millwall. Just before the winner, Millwall substitute Tairyk Arconte struck the post in the 79th minute.

Newcastle dominated early proceedings, with Filip Marschall making key saves and Sven Botman heading wide. The visitors struggled after half-time until Willock flicked in Lewis Hall's cross with nine minutes remaining. Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle praised the win, while defender Lewis Hall hailed the manager for lifting the squad's negativity.

Millwall introduced 15-year-old Regan Anderson, the club's second youngest player, but Newcastle held firm.
