Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur says the team will arrive at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid with 'all the energy' to recover from what he called a 'failure' at Monza.

At the Italian Grand Prix, Ferrari had high hopes after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc showed strong pace in Friday practice. However, qualifying saw them miss the front row, and the race turned into a disaster. Hamilton dropped from fourth to tenth after a collision with Leclerc at the first chicane, which also forced Leclerc into the gravel and caused him to retire with a heavy crash on lap three.

Vasseur admitted the team felt they had let down the Tifosi at their home race. He explained that while Ferrari introduced their second and final engine upgrade of the season, they still lacked straight-line speed compared to Mercedes-powered cars. He noted that the team's weakness on straights was a known issue.

Looking ahead to the new Madrid circuit, Vasseur is optimistic, saying the track's twisty nature should suit the Ferrari car better. He stressed that the team must focus on improving the power unit development process, which is a long-term project, but he is confident they can come back stronger and deliver a better result for their fans.
