The 2026 summer transfer window saw the Premier League record a net spend of €1.539 billion, up from €1.516 billion last season. Serie A trailed at €420 million, while La Liga spent just €252 million. Over five seasons, the Premier League's net spend totals €6.4 billion, dwarfing other European leagues.

The Premier League generated €8.09 billion in revenue in 2024-25, more than double La Liga's €4.1 billion. Despite financial sustainability rules, the Premier League's spending remains staggering—six times higher than La Liga this summer and 11 times higher over five years. Even with UEFA settlement agreements limiting Chelsea and Aston Villa, the gap persists.

When excluding superclubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid, Spain's net spend drops to a profit of €9 million, while Germany's falls to around €100 million without Bayern Munich.
