Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Tanner Banks was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Sunday before their game against the Atlanta Braves. Banks landed on the injured list July 9 with a left forearm strain. The 34-year-old is 0-4 with a 7.14 ERA in 28 games, allowing 23 earned runs in 29 innings. He made multiple rehab appearances for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in preparation for his return.

"He's getting to the point where he's pretty much ready if needed," interim manager Don Mattingly told reporters last week. Right-hander Grant Holman was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley a day after allowing five unearned runs while recording one out in his major league debut during Saturday's 12-2 loss to the Braves. Infielder Christian Cairo was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Banks.
