NHL Playoff Race
The Washington Capitals signed prospect Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract, securing the defenseman just as the team enters a critical stretch of its playoff chase. Hutson's collegiate season ended Saturday in Boston University's Hockey East tournament loss, and the 20-year-old is expected to join Washington's AHL affiliate in Hershey while pushing for NHL minutes. The move adds depth to a blue line that's been dealing with injuries and could accelerate Hutson's development timeline. Washington currently holds the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference heading into tonight's road game against the New York Islanders.
