Apple has revised its OLED display adoption plans, extending the availability of existing mini-LED MacBook Pro models. According to research firm Omdia, Apple will continue selling 14-inch and 16-inch LCD MacBook Pro models in parallel with OLED MacBook Pro product lines through at least 2028. This strategy adjustment stems from higher memory and component costs.

Previously, Omdia expected discontinuation once OLED models launched in 2027. The report confirms Apple will position an OLED-based MacBook Ultra above existing Pro models. Despite long-term OLED intentions for MacBooks and iPads, cost factors now dictate a longer lifespan for current mini-LED devices.

The transition pace has shifted, with OLED MacBook Pro models expected either this year or in early 2027. Omdia's roadmap represents the first projection suggesting current models could remain available for another year at least.
