How to access and use GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 Astra on September 3, but access varies by plan and platform. Regular Chat GPT users on $100 and $200 Pro plans, Business, and Enterprise will find the model listed as GPT-6 Pro in the model picker. Plus subscribers get Astra through Chat GPT Work and Codex, while Free and Go users are excluded for now. The rollout is gradual, so eligibility does not guarantee immediate access.

Enterprise users should check workspace model-access permissions, while Plus users should select Astra from the Work interface once it reaches their account. Codex users need CLI version 0.153.0 or newer, and manual updates may be required. Work rolls out separately, so Astra may appear on one platform before another.

Astra consumes your allowance faster than GPT-5.6 Sol, depending on task complexity. OpenAI estimates Plus users can send roughly five to 45 local Astra messages per five-hour period, $100 Pro plans get 25 to 225, and $200 plans get 100 to 900. Chat has separate weekly limits: 50 messages on $100 Pro and 200 on $200 Pro. Developers can access Astra via API at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, with higher rates for requests exceeding 272,000 input tokens.
