Google has begun rolling out Pics, its new AI-powered image editor, to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus customers. Google AI Pro for Education users are also gaining access. First announced in May, Pics builds on Google's Nano Banana image generator, allowing users to create images via text prompts or uploaded photos.

The app generates alternatives based on prompts and offers fine-grained editing controls, including object segmentation to move, resize, and transform individual image elements. Users can modify and translate embedded text in 29 languages without altering design or font, upscale images to 2K and 4K, and process multiple edits simultaneously. Pics integrates directly with Google Workspace apps like Docs and Slides, enabling full editing controls without switching tabs.

In coming weeks, users will be able to open and edit images saved to Drive and collaborate with colleagues. Google emphasized keeping visual creation within Workspace rather than using external tools like Canva, stating users "shouldn't have to jump between applications to create and share visuals.".
