Apple has released updates bringing iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2 to the public, in what is probably the last before the introduction of the impending iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.

iOS 26 is still the current-gen iPhone operating system, but not for long. Apple is in its last stages of getting its 27-generation operating systems ready for public consumption. But while it's doing that, the company is also tending to its current-gen operating systems too.

Released on September 8, one day before its iPhone 18 Pro special event, Apple has issued updates for iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2. iOS 26.6.2 is build 23G90, replacing 26.6.1, build 23G83. iPadOS 26.6.2 is build 23G90, replacing 26.6.1, build 23G83.

Much like the previous 26.6.1 update from August 17, the updates include a mix of updates for performance and security purposes. As an incremental release, and especially given the 27-generation releases arriving soon, don't expect much feature-wise from the releases. AppleInsider does recommend installing the updates sooner rather than later, especially because of the trend of AI-based threat discoveries.
