Apple executives detailed the iPhone 18 Pro's 2nm A20 Pro processor, calling it the most capable chip ever in any iPhone. The first to use 2-nanometer design, it delivers 20% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU performance.

Apple Silicon and product marketing chiefs Tom Boger, Kaiann Drance, and Sri Santhanam highlighted side-mounted DRAM, MCM-style packaging, and increased neural engine count as key innovations. "We're not a merchant silicon vendor," said Kaiann Drance, emphasizing Apple builds solutions for its own product experiences.

Sri Santhanam noted the 2nm process allowed doubling the neural engine, adding GPU cores, and extra memory channels. The team optimized the entire vertical stack—architecture, design, implementation, packaging—for maximum efficiency within iPhone's physical and thermal constraints.
