Naomi Osaka criticized social media influencers at the U.S. Open, saying they should respect the sport and its etiquette. Her comments followed disruptions during her first-round match, prompting fan backlash and tournament warnings.

The U.S. Open has long been known for its rowdy, loud atmosphere, distinct from other tennis events. Since moving to Flushing in 1978, the tournament has embraced its raucous, New York-style energy, often compared to a Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

However, influencers with ring lights and tripods in lower bowl seats have crossed a line. The U.S.T.A. posted messages asking fans to avoid disruptive behavior, including noise and flash photography, and warned of public reprimands.

Attendance hit a record 1.14 million last year, and some veterans like Adrian Mannarino note the atmosphere is changing, with noise and distractions becoming common. The tournament welcomes newcomers but stresses respect for the sport.
