Thirty-six years after Nigel Benn won his first world title in Atlantic City, son Conor aims for the same milestone in Las Vegas against WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia. A win would place the Benns among boxing's father-son world champions.

Conor's career was shadowed by adverse drug test findings that wiped out two years, though he denied doping and a provisional suspension was lifted in November 2024. A laboured points win over Regis Prograis left purists unconvinced. "To some people, I'll never be good enough," Conor says. "Winning the world title for me, it's personal."

Garcia served a one-year suspension for ostarine after beating Devin Haney in 2024. Both deny intentional PED use. The fight is staged by UFC-backed Zuffa Boxing yet features the traditional WBC belt.

Nigel believes he has the antidote to Garcia's firepower: suffocating, bobbing aggression. "He has to be the Dark Destroyer. Controlled aggression," Nigel says. "Don't give him room. Roll under his punches, left hook to the body, left hook to the head."
