Jakob Ingebrigtsen was pipped to victory in the men's 5km at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen by Eritrea's Dawit Seare, who won in 12:56. Compatriot Saymon Amanuel took bronze. Ingebrigtsen, 26, raced just six times this injury-hit season, eight days after winning the 5,000m in Budapest.

Likina Amebaw of Ethiopia dominated the women's 5km in 14:41, six days after her Budapest win, with Caroline Gitonga second and Rose Davies third. Britain's Hannah Nuttall finished 10th. Robert Farken of Germany won the men's mile in 3:51.80, pipping Yared Nuguse, while Agathe Guillemot of France took the women's mile in 4:22.74, the year's fastest road time.

The half-marathon titles will be decided on Sunday.
