New head coach Sebastien Pocognoli described Scotland's 0-0 draw with Slovenia as "two games in the same game" after a much-improved second-half display. The Scots struggled in a disjointed first half but took control after the break, creating enough chances to win but settling for a point. Pocognoli noted they were "in between" tactically initially but fixed their structure at halftime.

Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour returned from injury and was hailed by former Scotland midfielder John Collins as "the catalyst for everything" in the second half. Gilmour played further up the pitch, recorded 32 passes into the final third, and created several chances including a through-ball to Kieron Bowie. Pocognoli adjusted Gilmour's position deeper at halftime to improve compactness. Oli Mc Burnie made his first Scotland appearance since 2021, while Robbie Ure and Kieron Bowie also debuted.

All three had chances to score but failed against Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak. Scotland face four games in this international window.
