Ghost Jobs Report, September 2026: 28.3% of open job postings have been up for more than 90 days, measured across 607,050 postings from 15 applicant tracking systems. The median open posting is 36 days old. 163,057 postings exceed 90 days, and 94,106 exceed 180 days. Hospitality leads with 43.9% of postings over 90 days (median 65 days), while Healthcare turns over fastest at 19.7%.

Lever boards show the highest stale share at 48.2%, Workday the lowest at 17.2%. In the U.S., 26.2% of postings are over 90 days old. Among top employers, O'Reilly Auto Parts has 45.6% of its 14,320 postings open over 90 days, CVS Health 5.1%, and Lowe's 0.0%.
