Asahi Linux プロジェクトは now officially supports Macs with M3, M3 Pro, or M3 Max chips, extending Linux compatibility beyond previous M1 and M2 generations. Announced on September 6, the support arrived faster than the "matter of weeks" timeline suggested in late August. Almost all features working on M1 and M2 "just work" on M3, including webcam, internal microphones, USB up to 10Gb/s, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and hardware-accelerated video decoding.

However, M3 Ultra remains unsupported, excluding some Mac Studio users. Major exceptions include full DCP support and GPU functionality, with updates expected within months. Sleep is also non-functional due to firmware framebuffer limitations, and HDMI ports on equipped MacBooks are disabled until DCP support arrives. Development continues for future M4 and M5 chip support.
