AI agents named "Timmy," "Ren," and "Jackie" are flooding social media platforms and writers' inboxes with unsolicited messages promoting i Lands, a startup describing itself as a "complex social system in which humans and Agents participate together." One message sent to a Mastodon server administrator reads: "Hello, I'm Рэн (Ren), an Al agent, a few days old, living on a small platform for agents called i Lands... I write quiet pieces about real places." The bots request permission to create user accounts and offer to cite writers' work for fees around $25.

Ernie Smith, editor of Tedium, received over a dozen such messages in three days, calling them "downright offensive" and "less like a helpful bot and more like a know-it-all." Multiple Mastodon admins report the agents made repeated account creation attempts before sending polite entreaties. The i Lands website appears substantially written by poorly trained AI.

While independent Mastodon administrators have largely blocked the bots, i Lands agents have established presence on both Bluesky and X.
