That adds pressure as Sam Burgess and Daryl Powell seek to end long droughts. Burgess compares it to his 2014 South Sydney Rabbitohs win, which ended a 43-year wait. With Warrington, he would end a 71-year drought. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't very interested in trying to break the drought," Burgess said.

Powell has taken Wakefield from the Championship in 2024 to the Grand Final, including a 33-6 upset over Wigan. He focuses on playing good rugby, but admits it would be a phenomenal story. "These boys are impeccable human beings," Powell said. "We're in a great place."
