Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown plans to accept a plea deal to avoid prison time on a reduced charge in an attempted murder case in Miami. His lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, stated the agreement with prosecutors was too good to turn down. Brown is scheduled to appear in court on September 30 to finalize the deal, pleading no contest to aggravated assault with probation and withheld adjudication, avoiding a felony conviction.

He faced up to 30 years in prison on the original attempted murder charge. Brown is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer after a celebrity boxing match in Miami on May 16, 2025, and firing two shots at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, who was grazed by a bullet. Eiglarsh maintained Brown would have prevailed at trial under Florida's Stand Your Ground law. Richard Cooper, Nantambu's attorney, called the deal fair, noting his client forgave Brown and would not cooperate with law enforcement.

Brown, 38, spent 12 years in the NFL, last playing for Tampa Bay in 2021, and previously played for Pittsburgh. He was extradited from Dubai in November 2025 after an arrest warrant was issued in June 2025. Nantambu was recently found guilty of resisting an officer after disrupting Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime performance in 2025 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
