Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister told ESPN there is "no firm decision yet" on his future. "I still have two years left on my contract. I'm going to give it my all. A lot can happen in that time," he said. "Hopefully it'll be for more years, but if it's just two, I'll have to enjoy them with my family, because I have no doubt that I'm at one of the best clubs in the world." He previously felt "very sad" after not being offered a new deal while teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai were.

On Argentina's future without Lionel Messi, Mac Allister said: "The words for Messi are always the same: gratitude, and the realisation that there will never be another like him." He added Argentina must "grow stronger as a team" without "the best player in the world."

Mac Allister backed Messi, 39, for the Ballon d'Or: "As Argentines we'd love for Messi to win it. He had an incredible World Cup." Messi leaves Argentina with 125 goals in 207 games. Mac Allister returns for Liverpool against Manchester City at Anfield on Oct. 11.
